App Testing

What is App Testing?

App testing is the process of checking a mobile application to make sure its features, interface, integrations, and user flows work correctly before and after release. Testing can include functional testing, usability testing, compatibility testing, performance testing, and testing on different devices and operating system versions. In an app builder, users can also test and preview an application during the creation process to identify issues before publishing it.

Why it matters

App testing helps identify bugs, broken user flows, incorrect content, integration problems, and usability issues before they affect real users. Testing a mobile app on actual devices or in an emulator is especially important because screen sizes, operating systems, permissions, and device capabilities can influence how an application works. Regular testing also helps businesses verify that new features and updates do not negatively affect existing functionality.

Example

A company creates a mobile shopping app with a product catalog, user accounts, payments, and push notifications. Before publishing it, the team tests registration, navigation, purchases, payment processing, and notifications on different devices. Any problems discovered during testing are corrected before the application is released to customers.
