Low-Code Development

What is Low-Code Development?

Low-code development is an approach to creating applications with visual development tools and prebuilt components while requiring significantly less manual programming than traditional software development. Low-code platforms can provide visual editors, templates, reusable components, integrations, and configuration tools while still allowing developers to use code when more advanced customization is needed.

Why it matters

Low-code development can reduce the time and technical resources required to create a mobile application. Businesses can build and modify many parts of an app through visual tools instead of developing every component from scratch. Unlike no-code development, low-code usually retains the option to add custom code for more complex requirements, making it useful when a project needs both rapid development and technical flexibility.

Example

A company uses a low-code platform to create the main interface and functionality of a mobile app with visual tools. Developers then add custom code for several specialized features that cannot be configured with the platform’s standard components.
