iOS App

What is an iOS App?

An iOS app is a mobile application designed to run on Apple’s iOS operating system, primarily on iPhone devices. iOS apps can provide access to device capabilities, store and process data, send notifications, work with online services, and offer functionality specifically designed for mobile users. Native iOS applications are typically distributed through the App Store.

Why it matters

Creating an iOS app allows a business to provide its products, services, or digital functionality directly to iPhone users. Compared with a mobile website, an app can provide a more integrated mobile experience and use supported device capabilities. Businesses publishing an iOS app also need to consider Apple’s testing, review, and App Store distribution requirements.

Example

A service company creates an iOS app that allows customers to view available services, make bookings, receive updates, and access company information from their iPhones. The finished application is submitted for review and published through the App Store.
